I have a very small car (’02 VW Beetle) and this is one of the only car seats that would fit in my backseat. I spent over four hours at Babies R Us with an associate trying all the other styles but nothing worked but the Britax and the Peg Peregio or however you spell that. I highly recommend going to the store with your car and take the time to place the seats in your car, just to make sure they fit. Its the only way you will truly know if they will work and to be honest, why would you want to go through the trouble of getting one that you are not absolutely sure will work and then having to go back to return it..
Given the fact I have a tiny backseat, I am extremely pleased with this model. I travel a lot and my son loves being in his seat. The material is comfortable for him and not scratchy like in other seats I saw. The seat is very easy to install (whether you use the latch system or not). I have travelled cross-country twice with my son (he’s three months) and the seat does work in airline seats as well (just make sure that you know beforehand how to attach the seat using the airline seatbelt. Some planes have the latch system, others do not & some flight attendants don’t know how to install the Britax rear-facing lol.) The straps can be difficult to adjust but after practicing a few times you learn the system, just like you do with anything. I think this seat is a great idea if you have the money to invest in it. The only fault I can really think of is that its obviously not an infant carrier like the Snugrides so you either need a sling, a front carrier, or a stroller to carry your baby outside of the car. It can be exhausting constantly switching the baby from the seat to a sling or a stroller and then having to break down all the excess equipment (but if you’re thinking of a travel system, you’ll just be doing that anyways I suppose).
I did get a few support inserts to place into the seat to help eat up some of the excess space in the seat but I really only used it for the first month. It was a big help in helping to stabilize my baby’s head and body. I would really recommend getting one of the inserts if your baby is around eight pounds or less, just to help them be a bit more comfy and for your own peace of mind. I also got from Babies R Us some shoulder strap covers for my seat. The ones I got were microfiber and a lot softer on my son’s shoulders than the ones that came with the Britax.
